Amanda Firth

Amanda is one of our dedicated, long-standing, and valued members of the team. She first joined the company in 2002 when it was known at Wyse Leasing Limited as a PA to the Directors.

“I was attracted to the personal assistant role at the time because of the variety of the position and the culture of the company. It also gave me the stability of working locally as I was returning to my home in Yorkshire from London.”

Prior to joining Bluestone, Amanda held positions primarily in the customer service and customer care industry, training in hotel management before becoming a PA and then moving into cabin crew for British Airways.

On a typical day at work, Amanda could be dealing with HR issues that arise, organising events, managing the building, assisting the directors, and attending management meetings.

“My role is primarily focused on people which I love. I really care about people and try and support them as much as I can. My whole career has been people orientated.”

Amanda is often complimented on her approachable and friendly nature, her caring personality and ability to turn everything into an innuendo.

When asked what she liked most about her job, Amanda said;

“The people and the culture of the company makes coming to work enjoyable. I really appreciate the management style of the directors and I think this is really felt throughout the company. We all work as a team, supporting one another and creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable.”  

The early days

Amanda grew up in Leeds as an only child to doting parents. “A fond memory is me standing on my dad’s feet and us dancing around the living room.”

When she was very young, Amanda wanted to be a nun when she grew up; “Once I realised that meant I couldn’t date boys, I changed my mind! I decided I wanted to become an air hostess instead.”

“When I was 19, I moved to North Yorkshire to manage a 10-room hotel where they used to film All Creatures Great and Small. My very first job was working in a local coffee shop selling sandwiches and serving drinks. I worked from 8am to 6pm every Saturday and got £5 which I was really pleased with at the time!”

Amanda’s life motto;

"Treat others how you would like to be treated yourself."

At the top of her bucket list;

“I’ve been very fortunate in life to have achieved a lot of things already – I try and enjoy and appreciate life everyday.”
